Pumpkin spice protein bites for more energy

Pumpkin spice protein bites are a great energy snack

A package of XS vanilla protein pods lies on a counter next to a plate of pumpkin protein bites.

Halloween may be over, but it’s still pumpkin season. Even better, it’s pumpkin spice season!

It’s a rare holiday celebration that doesn’t include pumpkin pie or some other pumpkin creation as they are great roasted, pureed for soups or used in other baked goods or no bake treats.

And you can’t walk down the sidewalk without seeing offerings for pumpkin spiced lattes or other concoctions connected to the versatile orange gourd or its usual flavors.

Health benefits of pumpkin

While some pumpkin recipes can be considered indulgent, they are not necessarily void of nutritional value. Pumpkins and other hard squashes contain carotenoids, which are phytonutrients, or plant nutrients, as well as powerful antioxidants.

They support your immune system, eye health and skin health. Pumpkins specifically have beta-carotene, which our bodies convert into vitamin A, a key support for vision health.

If you’re looking for a way to incorporate more pumpkin into your diet while also getting other needed nutrients along with some protein to fuel your day, we have the perfect recipe for you.

These pumpkin pie protein bites call for vanilla XS™ Protein Pods, although chocolate would be the bomb, too! You can also use Nutrilite™ All Plant Protein Powder, just remember to adjust the recipe accordingly to make up for the lack of flavor. And feel free to get creative with other add-ins like pumpkin seeds, pecans, dried fruits or a chocolate coating!

  • 1/3 cup pumpkin purée
  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds

Roll the mixture into balls (about 1 inch or 2 ½ centimeters) and place on a baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least two hours. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Now you have an easy snack to grab when you’re getting low on energy and are looking for a quick boost of protein.
